Veli Bej Bath, situated in Budapest's 2nd district at Árpád fejedelem útja 7, is one of the city's oldest and most exquisite Turkish baths. Established in 1574 during the Ottoman era, this historic spa combines authentic Turkish architecture with modern wellness facilities, offering visitors a serene and rejuvenating experience.

Facilities and Services:

  • Thermal Pools: The bath features five thermal pools, including a large octagonal pool—the largest of its kind in Central Europe—and four smaller pools. These pools are continuously replenished with fresh thermal water, maintained at temperatures between 36°C and 38°C.
  • Wellness Areas: Guests can enjoy a range of wellness amenities, such as Finnish and infrared saunas, steam cabins infused with essential oils, and massage showers equipped with ice generators for a refreshing experience.
  • Therapeutic Services: Veli Bej offers various therapeutic services, including traditional massages, underwater jet massages (Tangentor), and Hydroxeur baths—an advanced form of jacuzzi that provides a full-body massage using water streams.

Visitor Tips:

  • Attire: Standard swimwear is required. It's advisable to bring your own swimsuit, towel, and flip-flops for comfort. Please note that children under the age of 14 are not permitted to enter the bath.
  • Capacity: Due to its intimate size, Veli Bej has a maximum capacity of 80 visitors. To ensure entry, it's recommended to arrive a few minutes before opening hours.
  • Hydration and Dining: A café is available on-site, offering a selection of food and beverages to keep you refreshed during your visit.

Operating Hours:

  • Veli Bej Bath operates daily with two sessions:
    • Morning Session: 6:00 AM – 12:00 PM
    • Afternoon Session: 3:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Please note that the bath is closed between 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM, and the cashier closes one hour before the end of each session. Additionally, the bath is closed on national and religious holidays, such as Easter and Pentecost

Getting There:

  • The bath is easily accessible via public transportation:
    • Tram: Take tram lines 4 or 6 to the 'Margit híd Budai hídfő' stop, followed by a short walk north.
    • Alternative Trams: From Southern Buda, trams 17, 19, or 41 stop at 'Komjádi Béla utca,' which is nearby.

Whether you're seeking therapeutic benefits or a peaceful retreat, Veli Bej Bath offers a unique blend of historical charm and modern wellness amenities, making it a must-visit destination in Budapest.
